The Super-Flop Shot Around The Green
The recovery shot magician otherwise known as Phil Mickelson has made this shot one of his calling cards. In fact he has perfected it to the point that he can hit the ball backwards, just to show off. Not that you’d ever want to go that far, so let’s stick with these flop fundamentals and you’ll conquer that short-sided situation in no time.
- Set up with an open stance and open face
- Set up with the ball in the front of your stance and weight slightly back
- Set your wrists on the backswing
- Keep your rear shoulder moving through
- On the downswing feel like you throw the rear palm slightly “under” through impact — this will lean the shaft backwards adding dynamic loft to the clubhead, similar to the tree shot
- Keep your rear shoulder moving with a full-finish
