The Plugged Bunker Lie
This shot assumes you have little or no green to work with, so you have to stop the ball as quickly as you can once you escape. Most people consider it one of the scariest shots to attempt, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
- Set up with an open stance and an open face
- Spine should lean left with 60-70% of the weight on the forward foot
- Set your wrists fully on the backswing
- Drive the club into the sand a few inches behind the ball
- DO NOT follow-through — leave the club in the sand
- The more downward your strike, and the less you follow through, the softer the ball will come out
