Equipment Time
If Santa did not leave new toys under the tree for you, then maybe it’s time for you to take charge of your equipment needs. Ensuring your equipment fits you, as well as properly “gaps” your game, is now more important than ever.
Your ball-striking abilities have improved to the point where a consistent swing emerges. Based upon the characteristics of your swing, equipment can work properly, or hamper your ability to be as efficient as possible with your current swing. There is no better time than now for you to make an update to your bag. This allows you time to feel comfortable with your new equipment as well as benchmark the performance of each club, so you’re ready to play when the course opens.
A simple check list to make sure your equipment is ready for the season includes:
- Checking all clubs, your bag, and other hardware for obvious signs of damage or wear. Fixing or replacing the damage and wear is important to get accomplished now.
- If you’re looking to replace a club, ensure you engage the services of a highly trained and experienced club fitter. They’ll possess and understand the technology needed to fit your swing correctly.
- Whether indoors or outdoors, start understanding how far each club travels in the air, on average. Also start understanding the extreme low and high distance numbers for each club.
By now, you are realizing a somewhat consistent ball flight to all your shots. Whether a simple draw, or a butter cut, you’re confident you can hit this shot at any time. But the opposite ball flight provides you uncomfortable feelings. Why? Because you’ve probably not practiced these shots before.
