Control Radius
Once impact point and face angle are generally known, the next step would be to start making adjustments. A great drill to help this is the radius drill. The drill is simple to setup, you need a 7 iron and a golf ball teed up about a half an inch. The goal of the drill is to make partial swings (let’s say if you hit a 7 iron 160 yards, total distance of the drill would be 125 -130 yds) and hit ball in the relative center of the clubhead without having any ground interaction.

The drill itself is to note your ability to a) control the radius and b) to note the impact location. Example: If you can successfully hit it solid without ground interaction and the ball is deflecting off the bottom two grooves, your adjustment on the next shot would be to hit the top two grooves—hopefully arriving somewhere in the middle after a few shots back and forth. This is effectively isolating the depth of the radius and starting to either control or at least be aware that this is a factor to you hitting better shots over a period of time.
