Bushnell TourV4

Bushnell Tour V4The Bushnell Tour V4 Shift is faster than the Tour V3, 30 percent smaller and more ergonomically designed to increase the ease and accuracy in acquiring yardages. The introduction of Slope-Switch Technology allows the golfer to conveniently toggle between Slope mode for compensated distances and non-slope mode for legal use during tournament play. “The compensated distances from our patented Slope technology are trusted by PGA Tour Professionals and playing pros around the world,” said Derek Schuman, marketing manager. “Amateurs can now have these same compensated distances, while having a Laser Rangefinder that conforms to the rules of golf. By disabling slope during tournament play and for posting handicap rounds, the Tour V4 Shift conforms to the USGA rules.” When the golfer aims the Tour V4 Shift at a flag, JOLT Technology provides short vibrating bursts to signal Bushnell’s advanced PinSeeker Technology has isolated the target and locked onto the flag. A faster processor has been incorporated into the unit to provide yardage readings faster than the Tour v3. Other features include accuracy to within one yard; five to 1,000-yard range performance (400 yards to a flag); 5x magnification (objects appear 5x closer), ergonomic design with stable-grip technology; and fast focus system.

TLink-Colours-Standing-2-300x199.jpg

TLink Golf WatchesCanadian company TLINK Golf has rolled out an updated version of what it calls “World’s Lightest GPS Golf Watch,” as comfortable as it is incredibly thin and ergonomically designed. Its GPS technology allows golfers to determine the front, middle and back portion of the green — and with the new upgrade, golfers can measure distances to hazard yardages to bunkers, water, layups and more. Says founder/CEO Derek Rucki, “The new GPS measurement is only one new feature of many — for example the live streaming of golf round progress or live steaming of a run, hike, workout and more.” It creates a completely different golf experience. It can allow coaches to monitor their players progress on the course in real time or just let you brag to your friends about your round that is currently being played at a premier course. “In addition, the new updates on the new TLINK allows you to view your fitness stats right on your wrist without the app needing to be opening. When you do open the app you can view all of your saved fitness activity over time. TLink also will have a new added music control feature while on a run or during a workout. “And, for a little fun and competition, the TLINK tracks fitness leaderboards and goals that are set to compete against friends,” added Rucki. The TLINK database offers 30,000-plus courses and growing. It’s weather resistant and boasts five-round battery life. Another bonus? It’s readable in direct sunlight. You can also attach it to a belt with the included adapter. Finally, you won’t find these many features at a comparable price.

KLVN BAGS

KLVN (pronounced kel-vin) took the PGA Merchandise Show by storm — or, rather, by robot — when it launched what the company calls the world’s most versatile golf bag, which is really two bags in one. Which requires some explanation.

“When we decided to launch the KLVN bag at the PGA Merchandise Show, we knew we needed to showcase the bag in a way that effectively demonstrated its revolutionary new design,” says founder Ted Foxman. “Using ‘robots’ in futuristic outfits showing off our game-changing bag design seemed like a great way to draw attention to both our booth and our product. We are very pleased it worked out so well.”

2016 Buyer’s Guide Accessories

Using the KLVN bag, golfers can ride with the cart bag and eject a lightweight carry bag with a simple push of a button, giving them unprecendented flexibility to manage their golf game, their way. Stuck in cart-path-only hell? No problem. Can’t decide which iron to pull? KLVN’s got you covered. Just flip one handle, pull out the system’s inner carry bag and you’re off, while the outer bag, with its multi-point cart strap system, stays put. Climb back in the cart and reattach your traveling sticks and the entire set stays secure and upright while riding. And you don’t have to take your hike without pocket accessories; OneTouch removable, customizable pockets allow golfers to completely change the look and functionality of their bags to match their personal style and golfing needs. And when the round is over, the bag also features concealed rubberized wheels that allow golfers to conveniently wheel the bag to and from the parking lot. It is constructed from a core made of lightweight, high-density, injection-molded plastic for enhanced durability.

Thanks to the inner KLVN bag’s built-in stand you won’t have to deal with wet, dirty grips leaving that trusty 6-iron behind in the grass. And goodbye to situations where you leave the club you actually need behind in the bag, then misplay the shot because you don’t have it.
The KLVN Bag is available in a variety of bright colors. And about that comely robot who introduced the bag at the PGA Show? Sorry, she’s not included.

HOLE OUT

Their enthusiasm is infectious. Their products make total sense, including the half dozen they rolled out at the PGA Show in Orlando. The men and women of HoleOut clearly love golf and want to make it not only more fun, but as convenient to play as possible. And if you knock a few strokes off your game in the process, even better.

“All these products come out of our love for the game,” said David Dastrup, Design Engineer and HoleOut’s CEO. “These aren’t re-hashed products, they’re all entirely new ideas, and they function flawlessly. We have a suite of products that can truly reduce strokes, speed the game, and add enjoyment all at once.”

GolfTips has had a chance to check out all six up close and in person, and Dastrup is spot-on: These six affordable, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that items should find their way to every golfer’s bag, both on the course and on the practice tee.

Our favorite is the HoleOut Pro ($29.99), which puts your ball mark right where you need it — on the grip end of your putter — thanks to a quick and easy installation system that involves a small knife and an ingenious spring-loaded gadget that plugs into the grip. But what’s really cool is that the HoleOut Pro turns into the green-reading partner you never had via their “Holeout Method” which helps locate the one true vertical edge of the putter, taking the mystery and myth out of plumb-bobbing.

Got issues with swaying in your backswing? Both Anti-Sway and Anti-Sway Pro ($34.99 and $64.99) are unique foot-mounted devices that immediately reveal if you’re letting that rear leg break down instead of keeping the knee flexed and the weight on the inside of the foot — the foundation of every great player in history. A few swings with AntiSway and you’ll get the hang of what a solid foundation feels like.

Didn’t the humble tee needs an overhaul? Thin again. HoleOut’s PerfecTee ($4.99 for packet of 8) all but eliminates power sapping friction at the millisecond of truth. Front supports won’t engage ball dimples for unwanted spin. Ergonomically designed, it feels great in the hand when teeing up, and its diamond-shaped shaft cuts through the turf and won’t bend through impact. One tee will outlast a small bag of wood tees — the environment thanks you. PerfecTee is USGA conforming.

Finally we come to the PerfecTowel ($21.99), with a unique six-surface design that assures there’s always a wet and dry surface to clean clubs and balls — a killer combination of small and light with a big cleaning surface. Even better, it comes equipped with TowelCaddy ($5.99 if purchased separately), which hooks to the hosel or lower shaft of your putter and snaps easily back on once you’ve buried that birdie putt. Since it stays with the putter, there’s no more leaving the towel behind and having to wipe that dew-drenched ball on your trousers, shorts or shirt. It’s always there for you.

So, every HoleOut product stands alone as a great idea, but a whole suite of them? Sweet. holeout.com

SPIDER DIVOT REPAIR TOOL

All divot repair tools are created equal, right? Uh, no. In fact, some of them do more harm than good, leaving too much room for error in application — which results in dead spots on those precious greens. But the Spider Twister is different, an entirely new approach to green repair. It uses a simple push/pull action that makes ball mark repairs easier, quicker and better. You just remove the twist off cap, insert the metal legs into the ball mark and pull upward. The patented technology of the Spider Twister easily pulls the damaged area flush with the putting surface. Tamp it and you’re done. No more war wounds for the next foursome to deal with. Also, the design of the Spider Twister keeps the dirt out of your pocket without any damage to your clothing from sharp points. And if you want to make this turf-saving magic while saving your back, invest in the Spider Pro, with a collapsible shaft that extends to 38 inches.

WILSON BAGS

NEXUS AND IONIX BAGS

So you’ve just shelled out a stack o’ cash for a new set of Wilson sticks. Next up is a serviceable bag that’ll take care of them, and you, whether you’re walking or riding. Look no further than Wilson itself, whose trio of bags — neXus carry II, neXus II cart and Ionix light — has your prized weapons covered. The new neXus II keeps the unique construction of previous iterations with the Exo-Frame Technology 360°. Its sturdy frame connects the aluminum spine, handle top, stand and base to work interdependently. When the base makes contact with the ground, it activates the stand immediately yet keeps the bag steady. Both the spine and top possess comfort TPR molded handles for a solid hand grip and for easy mounting on and off the golf trolley or cart. One of the most noticeable changes to the neXus II is the completely redesigned base. Engineered with a smaller footprint, the nexus II now fits easily on most riding carts. Other innovations are the heather weave polyester fabric; it’s durable but also gives the bag an outdoor fashion linen look. The new airflow hip pad and 4-points double strap is ergonomically designed for the avid walker. Seven pockets provide easy access and plenty of storage for garments and accessories. This updated layout even includes a large opened pocket for a range finder or beverage as well as specific slots for markers, pens, or valuables. Want to go even lighter? The Ionix Light is the most efficient carry option in the Wilson Staff 2016 bag line. Weighing just under 4.5 pounds, it caters to the ultimate walker demanding a comfortable feel and a quick activating stand. “We designed this bag for the grab-and-go player,” explained Jean-Peirre Degembe, global product director – Golf Hard Good Accessories. “He or she might trek 36 holes in one day, or be the only walker in the foursome, so we needed to design a golf bag to allow that type of player a comfortable experience.” Ionix Light still features a large 9”x7.5” handle top with five dividers, the perfect fit for walkers. The base’s two-part design allows the bag to stay flat to the ground, ensuring maximum stability and quicker stand activation. A decided cart rider? The neXus II cart bag has a unique innovative construction platform with the top and base connected via semi-external stays that allow us to build a stable, yet lightweight bag. It also has exclusive 9×8” S-Lock technology, 14 placeholders that “lock in” clubs helping to prevent damage to your valuable investment. Nine pockets, geometrically placed for easy external access on the cart or trolley, provide extensive storage space for garments and accessories; you’ll also find pockets for range finder and valuables, plus tee holders, glove attachment points, pen and divot repair sleeves.

CLUB HUB ANALYSIS SYSTEM

For the first time, golfers and instructors have access to a personal and portable system – for use both on the range and the course – that accurately analyzes the golf swing, while automatically tracking shots from tee to green and delivering analytics directly to a smart phone app and the cloud, in real time. ClubHub is a comprehensive golf performance system allowing instructors and coaches to better evaluate and interact with students, from anywhere at any time. It features 14 sensors, one for each club in the bag, which are seamlessly and easily attached to the butt-end of the club and then quickly paired with the smart phone app. Golfers simply make a swing and instantly see data on the app, including club head speed, face angle, angle of attack, tempo and transition angle. Additionally, ClubHub’s shot tracking technology allows golfers to record rounds and scoring stats such as driving distances, fairways hit, greens in regulation and putting. By viewing the data, instructors can monitor on course swing characteristics and course management skills to help students develop a better all-around game. And, perhaps most important to the game of golf, ClubHub features a unique application that captures data while the golfer is playing a round of golf, and then stores it for post-round analysis.

FLIGHT SCOPE

In an ever-more crowded field of whiz-bang, full-scale swing monitors, FlightScope — which debuted way backed in 2001 — has distinguished itself by going straight to your head. Already known for its 3D Doppler club and ball tracking monitors, golf radars and launch monitors for sports, the company unveiled its new FocusBand, a wearable, motion based, mind-sensing headset. It looks like a simple sweatband, and once a golfer straps it on its brain sensing system trains the mind into a calmer state — something every player will admit he or she could use. “When the state of mind and belief system are altered, the results can be extraordinary,” said Henri Johnson, CEO of FlightScope. “This unique combination of technologies easily illustrates how users can perform to their fullest potential by better understanding the mind-body connection that is so important in the game of golf.” Through the integration of FocusBand, FlightScope users can track swing and shots while comparing their state of mind with real-time data and feedback beneficial for enhanced training. FlightScope also introduced a new short distance setup as an update to its firmware and software settings; users now just need 16 feet of space instead of 21 feet to get accurate feedback. FlightScope employs phased array and ballistic tracking technology to accurately record ball trajectory and actual launch data.

ZEPP

Zepp 3D Motion Sensor ZEPP is a range rat’s dream, and it’s also a bit different from so many of today’s swing analyzers in that it attaches to a golf glove instead of the club. Like the others, it does rely on a Bluetooth connection and a cozy relationship with your trusty sticks to get the job done, and what a fine job it is — notching, in real time, truly illuminating details about your swing from club to club, and via its phone app, those details are being updated constantly. If you didn’t have a clue what your “hand plane” was, or couldn’t successfully gauge your swing speed through the bag without visiting a high-tech pro shop and getting hooked up to a state-of-the-art machine, you can now. Sure, you can just stick the free app on your iPhone and still enjoy access to a myriad of swing tip videos, record your own move and even compare it to Tour players like Michelle Wie, Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele. But drop an extra $150 on the sensor and Zepp really comes alive as a full-fledged digital teacher. It takes just a few minutes to set up an account online, go through the bag and match up your clubs with Zepp’s database (or go generic if your model isn’t there). Open the app, set the device in a safe spot next to the ball-feeder or tee marker, and start swinging. Choose the proper corresponding club on the app as you work through the bag and you’ll get accurate figures on tempo (shown as a backswing-to-forward swing ratio), backswing position (in degrees), club and hand plane comparison and clubhead speeds for driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons and wedges. The app’s Lab Reports and Insights sections offer side-by-side comparison of all the numbers. Then record your swing in 3D and seeing how the feedback and practice are working for you. Zepp is an amazing, intuitive and fun-to-use tool.

Voice Caddie came out with the world’s first voice-guided GPS rangefinder a few years ago, and it was a huge hit, allowing golfers to get the yardage they need without punching buttons or trying to see a small screen in the sun’s glare. This year they go even smaller and lighter with the VC300 ($129.99), another hands-free device that gives quick, convenient and accurate measurements to the front, back and center of the green and automatically recognizes which course and hole is in play among more than 40,000 courses worldwide. The comprehensive line of Voice Caddie items also includes T1 and T2 Hybrid Golf GPS watches, the CG100 Green Caddie and PT30 Putting Trainer as well as the D1 Executive Flip Voice GPS device that combines the voice measurement capacity of the VC300 and data display function of the SC200 Swing Caddie Launch Monitor. Also new this year is the portable SC200 Swing Caddie Launch Monitor ($349.99), an optimal training device for golfers of all skill levels, allowing access to a launch monitor virtually anywhere without the need to make a major investment. With its voice enabled capability, the SC200 simultaneously displays and calls out carry distance, swing speed, ball speed and smash factor after each swing.

INTRODUCING THE MANTIS "B"
We all agree that to make more putts, it’s critical to keep your eye on the ball. Yet the elaborate shapes, reflective metal or white finishes of most putters encourage the opposite. Mantis putters make the ball the hero–simple as that.

Our patented color and finish have proven that when putting with the Mantis, your eyes stay on the ball, not the club. The Mantis "B" is a superbly constructed and balanced heel/toe-weighted putter. It joins our original face-balanced mallet. Both feature a stainless-steel head and milled polyurethane face to deliver great feel with every stroke. Mantis putters conform with USGA Rules.

Selected as one of the "10 Great Items from the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show" by Golf.com/Sports Illustrated, the PutterWheel is the actual weight of a golf ball with a premium urethane cover. In addition to alignment and stroke feedback, the two-line template helps golfers take the wheel visualization and stroke to the course.

TRAINING AIDS

GOLFSTR
When it comes to power, the best way to get more of it is to add width to your golf swing. The wider your arc, the more room you have to develop more centrifugal force and clubhead speed. This also comes from having a left arm straight during the golf swing. If you happen to need a quick and easy tool to do just that, try the Golfstr (short for "Golf Straight"). This easy-to-use device attaches to your arm and reminds you if your left arm starts bending during the stroke. Yes, it’s that simple and surprisingly comfortable, too. After some repeated use, you’ll quickly learn to feel what a proper golf swing should feel like, and we’ll bet you have a few sore muscles in areas you probably didn’t know were critical muscles used in the golf swing (your core, folks).
golfstr.com | $36.95

SWING SMART
A hot ticket at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show, the Swing Smart uses a small device that attaches to any club, and via Bluetooth, then transmits feedback to an iPhone or iPad (Android compatability is on its way). Using the Swing Smart, one can track tempo, path, clubhead speed and also, with the Peter Kostis-designed Aiming Triangle, dial in the perfect clubface alignment. Wow, seeing your swing in 3D has never been so easy.
swingsmart.com | $249

DEAD AIM
There aren’t many of these, so add this one to the small list of training aids that double as actual clubs, or vice versa. The Dead Aim Putter uses a series of alignment aids (permanent) and a removable laser and/or clip for perfecting your impact (both are optional, but you should get ’em) to help golfers dial in the perfect alignment, head position and putting stroke. Genius, if you ask us. It’s also a really nice-looking putter, with a solid, stable feel and a smooth end-over-end roll. Now, if only we could find a way to use a laser on the other 13 clubs in the golf bag.

GRIP SOLID
When it comes to playing your best golf, if you can’t grip the club properly, your chances of ever playing well greatly diminish. If you need a device that will help you feel how the club should come in contact with palms and fingers, the Grip Solid is just the ticket. It not only helps you correctly position the grip in your hands, but it also neutralizes unwanted tension and the classic "death grip." It took a little getting used to, but the product really worked; those palmy, weak grips we had on the club were a thing of the past.

THE ORANGE WHIP & ORANGE PEEL
The Orange Whip isn’t new, but it’s still our top pick for helping to improve tempo, balance and rhythm. It doubles as the perfect tool to loosen up before a round, too. There are also several drills and training exercises you can do with it. Add the Orange Peel–which, granted, doesn’t have the portability of the Orange Whip, but is a great product nonetheless–and you have the total package. The Orange Peel is a device you stand on to help you better your swing, "alter your swing plane and improve your balance." Both training aids, either together or separately, are among the most effective training aids we’ve tried in a long while.

The bend shaft, corrective grip and oversized head weight combine to teach golfers to release the hands and clubs more effectively. Other than that, the Matzie is also a great tool for getting loose and keeping your golf muscles toned.

PIVOT PRO
One of the most overlooked aspects of the golf swing is the pivot. And it’s the one thing that, if corrected, can make a huge impact on your game in terms of power and consistency. The PivotPro helps you feel what a perfect pivot should feel like, as well as trains you to pivot your body as you swing. Simply hook your right foot in, and start swinging. We’ve tried it, and it works wonders. And it helps us not only perfect our pivot, but avoid swaying and sliding too much during the swing.
pivotpro.net | $79

THE RIGHT ANGLE 2
One of the most overlooked aspects of the golf swing is the right arm (left arm for lefties) during the golf swing. How you hinge and position your arm is critical if you want to stay on the proper plane and have a repeatable, powerful golf swing. This is where The Right Angle 2 steps in. Designed to fit around your right arm (it works on the left arm, too, for left-handers), The Right Angle 2 helps you position your right arm perfectly during the swing. The resulting effect is a perfect 90-degree angle at the top of your swing and a correct unhinging motion through the downswing. The auditory clicker feature is a cool one, using sound to let you know when you’re in or out of position.

MEDICUS POWER METER
We prefer to keep things simple when using our training aids. The PowerMeter does what the name implies–it helps you instantly meter and record your clubhead speed. Using it is a cinch, and it’s especially useful if you’re a player who tends to muscle the ball, which sometimes actually results in a slower swingspeed than if you allow the clubhead to load and release properly. That is, better mechanics always trump bigger muscles (well, almost always).

THE PILL
If you’re looking for instant feedback on the practice green and you want to have a lot of fun doing it, The Pill is just what you’re looking for. Designed using a real golf ball that’s cut on two sides, The Pill lends feedback on well-struck putts (it will roll straight), as well as feedback on poorly struck putts (it will veer aggressively offline). Use two at once for double the feedback!

Who says the game is played with just clubs and balls? Not us, certainly. We think golfers should use everything possible to improve their games. In this section, we highlight a number of this year’s best accessories, from comfortable shoes to talking GPS units. The future is now.

TRAINING AIDS

The Extra 20 Yards
Edinburgh, Scotland-based Graeme Alexander has developed The Extra 20 Yards, a slim and unobtrusive home golf gym designed specifically to train your golf muscles. What we like, of course, is that you don’t have to dedicate a lot of time to it. Alexander suggests short workouts of three to five minutes, three to four times a week. Does it work? Hard to say, but if you’ve got the extra money for a driver, maybe you should consider investing it in one of these. For right- and left-handed golfers.

SwingRite
The SwingRite is one of the game’s easiest and most effective training aids. Simply swing it and listen for the click. If released properly, the SwingRite will click at the bottom of your swing. You can easily pinpoint and correct an early or late hand release, and making this correction will result in farther and straighter shots. Adjust the SwingRite to work on clubhead speed and tempo.

Pro Mental CoachVEX
You’ve heard it before. Golf is 90% mental. So if your brain is such an important asset, why do so many golfers not know how to use it? That question has nagged sports psychologists for years. Now there’s a way for you to sharpen your golf brain at home. The training system called Pro Mental Coach, which runs on your computer, will stimulate your brain with "exergames." After taking a 30-minute assessment test, users train three times a week for 20 minutes at a time, so they can get in the zone, recover quickly and boost mental endurance.

Levitee
Gripping the club too hard produces lots of tension in the golf swing. As instructors have long advised, golfers should hold the club like a little bird–strong enough that it doesn’t fly away, but light enough that they don’t crush it. The makers of the new LeviTee glove address that by placing foam pads in between each finger, which reduces a golfer’s grip pressure by 30% and helps them avoid the death grip.

Eyeline Golf Ball of Steel
At first sight, Eyeline Golf’s Ball of Steel may look like a red rubber ball, but pick it up and you’ll realize it’s anything but. Weighing five times more than a regular golf ball, the Ball of Steel is a putting training aid built to help you accelerate through the ball. Because it’s so heavy, there’s no way you can advance it without giving it a good knock. We loved how, after returning to a regular ball, we accelerated through the stroke. We’ll probably never leave another putt short again. (For six-foot putts or less only.)

The Orange Whip
The Orange Whip aims to sharpen your swing rhythm and tempo, improve your balance, increase your clubhead speed and develop lag and load. After practicing with it each day, you’ll find strength and flexibility in your golf swing.
orangewhiptrainer.com | $109

While it’s true that most of your playing time is spent sizing up a shot and hitting it, to become a better player, you need more than just the latest clubs, shafts and balls. Consider the often-overlooked category of accessories. While it might be easy to write it off as a bunch of gadgets, look closer and you’ll see that each of the following items will not only help you play better, but also enjoy the game that much more. And, really, who can argue with that?

Hybrid Laser GPS

Want pinpoint accuracy to the flag and a device that measures distances to the front, middle and back of green (not to mention creeks, bunkers and one that measures your drives)? As the company says, it’s “distance made simple.” We liked how easy it was to use (we used the GPS portion more than the laser because its side display is very accessible). Sun Mountain
Superlight 3.5

We love the big, roomy mouth of the 3.5, not to mention one of the most comfortable strap systems (E-Z Fit Dual Strap) we’ve tried. We also dig how the bottom of the bag was designed so it doesn’t slip off a golf cart. That’s smart stuff.

Adidas
Strike AG

Yeah, the white is sure to turn heads, but this bag isn’t just for show. Its lightweight and sturdy construction makes it a cinch to use and carry. We really like the placement of the multiple pockets, and the wide mouth makes dropping and pulling clubs a piece of cake. It also has FAS-TEK technology, meaning you can attach a handful of devices such as a GPS to it, using the type of clip you’d use on a belt or pants pocket.

TRAINING AIDS
MomentusGolf
Speed Whoosh

One of items that made the most, um, noise at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show Demo Day was Momentus Golf’s Speed Whoosh, a training aid that promises to increase one’s swing speed by 7-10 mph. While it weighs the same as a typical driver, its flexible shaft allows you to swing it more than 20 mph faster than your normal big stick. Swing it just six times, and you’ll notice that distance gain, says the company. What’s most helpful though is the “whoosh” sound it makes in the impact zone (when swung correctly). That gives you the right feedback so you can make solid contact again and again.

PSP Golf
The Little One

Oversized clubheads have been the rage for years, and for good reason–they’re incredibly forgiving. But maybe they’re too forgiving. Hitting the ball off the heel or toe isn’t nearly as punishing as it was 10 years ago. Still, those shots don’t go nearly as far as ones that are hit on the sweet spot. If you struggle to make consistent, flush contact, consider PSP Golf’s The Little One. First introduced in 2000, the severely undersized 7-iron clubhead (it’s the size of a standard club’s sweet spot) is designed so you make solid contact every time.

We live in a modern world, where technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, from mapping our commutes via onboard navigation systems to wearing clothing with materials specifically designed to wick away moisture to capturing moments in time with our cell phones. We’re happy to report that the golf world isn’t immune to many of the same technological advancements._Ê

Each year it seems someone raises the bar and introduces a new product that changes the way we see and play the game. This year, in particular, a number of offerings (waterproof bags, “smart” golf carts, color-screened GPS yardage readers and golf specific eyewear, to name a few) have captured our imagination. They’re evidence that technology is not, as some would argue, ruining the game, but making it more a fun, efficient and enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.

Check out the latest offerings. We think you’ll like what you see.

Not with the new H2O bag from Sun Mountain, the first waterproof bag. Not only is it constructed from waterproof material, but its pockets are waterproof too, a great feature for golfers who carry vulnerable valuables with them on the course.

The folks at Tee2Green Technologies in Australia have made a splash with their handsome SureShot GPS yardage reader. What makes it stand out? Well, namely its sleek design and color screen, a feature its rivals don’t possess. In addition to the standard GPS features (distance measuring to specific points, course data storage, ability to measure to points lasers can’t penetrate), the SureShot enables users to record shot statistics and even suggests which club to hit. The light, portable device can be clipped to your belt, and its battery lasts a long time.

PING M-Flex Glove PING M-Flex Glove
www.pinggolf.com
$12
When PING introduces a new product in a new category, you know it has got to stand up to PING’s notorious quality-control standards. Its new M-Flex is an exceptional golf glove that features a unique, non-leather, micro-fiber composition that’s designed to grip
exceptionally well in wet or dry conditions. Surprisingly, the micro-fiber feels very much like Cabretta leather, and in our opinion, breathes even better. Heck, it smells like leather, too. If high-tech hand wear is too “New Age” for you, PING also offers a Cabretta leather model.
