Significant advancements in custom fitting and the highest MOIs and ball speeds available highlight the new PING G410 Plus and G410 SFT drivers.

The multi-material drivers are available for pre-order today, and custom fitting at authorized PING golf shops around the world beginning in mid-February.

In the G410 Plus model, three positions (Draw, Neutral, Fade) for the ultra-high density tungsten back weight shift the center of gravity (CG) location by 1/10″ in each direction from neutral to influence left or right shot direction approximately 10 yards (20 yards of correction between Draw and Fade settings).

By positioning the weight on the extreme boundary of the clubhead, the moment of inertia increases compared to the original G400 driver – ensuring golfers enjoy the added ball speed and forgiveness required to hit their tee shots longer and straighter.

The G410 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) model is engineered with a fixed ultra-high density tungsten weight positioned on the clubhead’s extreme perimeter and 50 percent more heel-side CG than its predecessor to ensure straighter ball flights. A lighter swingweight (D1) further influences direction by helping square the face at impact.

A new “creased crown” design provides stiffening properties and combines with patented Dragonfly Technology on the inside to create an ultra-thin crown structure, which saves weight for optimizing the CG location and increasing forgiveness. Together with more aggressive and efficient Turbulator Technology, the 455cc head’s crown design provides a clean, powerful and faster look at address while making alignment nearly effortless.

The unique forging and patented heat-treatment process of the T9S+ face powers a thinner, hotter impact area that is precision machined to elevate ball speed across the entire face for more flexing and faster ball speeds. The forged face and the internal geometry of the head are instrumental in producing the powerful feel and sound of the driver.

The new, patented lightweight and aerodynamic adjustable hosel expands from five to eight settings, offering loft (0, +1, +1.5, -1, -1.5 degrees) and lie adjustments (including up to 3 degrees flatter than standard) to optimize ball flight.

PING’s engineering team developed the next generation of the Alta CB (counter balanced) shaft as the proprietary option in the G410 driver. The higher-launching, lightweight Alta CB Red 55 is engineered with an eight-gram counterweight in the grip end of the shaft, shifting the CG higher and allowing for more head weight to increase energy transfer and momentum – resulting in more ball speed and greater forgiveness.

The newly launched Wilson Staff D7 driver, woods and hybrids for  2019 provide golfers with greater ball speeds for longer distances, and ultimate playability when attacking the green.

With a club head weight of just 192 grams, the Wilson Staff D7 driver features RE-AKT Technology plus a combination of superlight design and reactive face technology to deliver faster club head speeds and ball speeds for longer distances off the tee.

Engineered with the [K]omposite Crown Design, the D7 crown features a layer of Dupont Kevlar between carbon fiber to neutralize vibration and produce a sharp, crisp sound and ultimate feel.

“The process of creating the D7 driver started with designing the head shape and then stripping out nearly 25 grams of excessive weight,” said Jon Pergande, Global Innovation Manager at Wilson Golf.  “This weight was strategically returned to the head with the goal of improving the sound of the driver and optimizing ball flight with Dynamic Launch Control.”

Dynamic Launch Control strategically positions internal weights in each head to aid different swing speeds — the 9 degree for players with a fast swing speed with weighting forward in the head for lower launch and spin; the 10.5 degree for those with a moderate-to-fast swing speed with weighting in the middle of the head for a higher launch and spin; and the 13 degree for a slow-to-moderate swing speed with weighting further back and towards the heel for the highest launch and spin rate with a draw bias.

The D7 driver is available with the new UST-Mamiya Helium Series shaft that’s played on Tour. Lightweight with extreme stability, the shafts options are available in A-flex (45 grams), R-flex (46 grams) and S-flex (57 grams). The new Wilson Staff MicroLite Lamkin grip maintains a traditional feel in a super lightweight construction.

Wilson Staff D7 fairway woods and hybrid offer a dramatic change to previous distance versions, starting with a head shape inspired by input from Wilson Tour players.

The new lightweight crown construction features thin-cast pockets which reduces five grams of weight and promotes the superlight design.

“By removing excessive weight and changing the structure of the clubs, we see that the D7 woods and hybrids make a significant gain in performance,” said Jon. “As with the D7 driver, the D7 fairways and hybrid can be swung faster with the same effort to give golfers the desired distance.”

A Carpenter Custom 455 Stainless Steel face insert provides a thin, hot face, increasing both feel and distance.

The D7 fairway wood is available in three loft options — 15 degrees (3-wood); 18 degrees (5-wood); and 21 degrees (7-wood) — with the same UST-Mamiya Helium Series shaft and Wilson Staff MicroLite Lamkin grip as used on the driver. Left hand models are available in 15 and 18 degree loft options.

The D7 hybrid is available in four loft options (19, 22, 25 and 28 degrees) with the UST-Mamiya Recoil shaft in A-, R- and S- flexes at 65 grams. The grip is the Wilson Staff classic Lamkin Crossline pattern grip. Left handed versions are available in 19°, 22˚ and 25° loft options.

TaylorMade Golf recently announced the next generation of the globally successful line of its M metalwoods, highlighted by the all-new M5 & M6 drivers, fairways and hybrids.

In 2018, TaylorMade engineers developed a new path to performance with Twist Face technology. To counteract the high-toe miss (a hook), the driver face was modified open (loft increased and face opened) on the high-toe to help straighten ball flight. Similarly, to counteract the low-heel miss (a slice) the driver face was modified closed to de-loft and close the face in the low heel area. In 2019, TaylorMade has taken Twist Face to the next level of performance with the introduction of Injected Twist Face technology, exposing the false narrative that speed limits have been reached in a metalwood. There are four key features to the design of Speed Injected Twist Face that allow TaylorMade to maximize ballspeed, working in unison to allow every M5 and M6 driver to be precision-tuned with a new, rigorous process to maximize speed to the allowable limit.

Every M5 and M6 driver head is inspected, measured, and tuned for maximum speed and to ensure conformity a process the company says is “truly unmatched in the golf industry.” Whereas current drivers have a level of variation from one to the next, TaylorMade’s new engineering and development processes effectively deliver a level of precision that ensures every golfer gets a hot and fast driver head.

The drivers have been designed with a thinner, more flexible face — in fact, initially designed above the legal limit before going through the tuning process in which resin is injected to ensure maximum speed for each head. The injection process utilizes two new tuning ports on the face of the driver (both M5 and M6 models) and a proprietary algorithm to ensure the appropriate amount of resin is used, systematically dialing in the speed for each driver face.

A significant benefit of the thinner, faster face design is that it provides the M5 and M6 drivers with faster off-center COR, effectively increasing forgiveness. The new face design is optimized with up to a 20 percent reduction in thickness that results in a 66 percent larger sweetspot in the M5 drivers over the M3 and more than 100 percent larger than the original M1 in 2015.

M5 & M5 TOUR DRIVERS

In addition to Twist Face and Speed Injected technologies, TaylorMade has also incorporated numerous additional technologies in its new drivers including a new Inverted T-Track system that makes personalization more intuitive and simplified than ever and allows the golfer more precise CG adjustability — 1770 unique CG configurations in all, heel to toe and front to back.

It also provides a wide range of MOI options—position both weights all the way forward for the lowest CG projection to maximize speed with very low spin, push the weights all the way back into both sections of the Inverted T-Track and maximize MOI and ball speed protection on mishits. The result gives the golfer up to one degree of launch angle and 600 rpm of spin change as well as 25 yards of left-to-right adjustability. The two-degree loft sleeve allows for the adjustment of the loft, lie angle and face angle of the driver; and when combined with the Inverted T-Track, makes the M5 the company’s most customizable driver in company history.

In the M5 & M6 drivers and fairways, TaylorMade ushers in the fourth consecutive generation of its carbon composite technology. TaylorMade engineers were able to incorporate composite panels that continue to unlock performance with a more efficient mass distribution compared to a traditional metalwood construction. The use of composite crown and sole panels save weight from the traditional construction of drivers and fairways. This increased discretionary weight is used to create an optimized center of gravity to deliver a hotter trajectory with increased forgiveness.

The M5 will also be available in a smaller model – the M5 Tour. Featuring the same Speed Injected technology as the M5 driver, it utilizes a compact 435cc head with optimized aerodynamics for improved workability and maximum clubhead speed. While retaining all of the same key technologies as its larger 460cc counterpart, the M5 Tour driver is designed for the player who seeks more workability with less spin and prefers a more compact look at address.

The M5 driver is offered in 9, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts, the M5 Tour 9 and 10.5 degree lofts. Both come equipped with either a Mitsubishi CK Tensei Orange 60 and Project X’s new HZRDUS Smoke 70 shaft with numerous additional shaft options available at no additional cost. The stock grip is the MCC Decade grip from Golf Pride.

M6 & M6 D-TYPE DRIVERS

Like the M5, each M6 driver head is individually speed tested and injected with tuning resin to optimize COR across the entire face and deliver maximum ball speed and distance. The heel and toe ports in the driver face have allowed TaylorMade to maximize speed across the entire face in every driver created, delivering to each golfer a boundary-pushing fast & hot driver head.

The M6 also features Twist Face technology, which, like last year’s M3 and M4 drivers and this year’s M5, provides more loft in the high toe and less loft in the low-heel to produce more consistent spin where golfers commonly mis-hit. The face of the M6 driver is also slightly taller than the M5.

Featuring the same six-layer carbon composite crown as the M5, the M6 adds a complete carbon fiber sole, allowing for significantly more discretionary weight to be used elsewhere in the clubhead – as much as 54 percent more than its predecessor, the M4. With the weight savings, engineers were able to create a sleek, aerodynamic shape inclusive of the new “inertia generator.” The inertia generator houses the additional discretionary weight extremely low and back for maximum forgiveness while lowering the CG compared to previous models.

The M6 D-Type driver puts the same performance features into a draw-biased, easy-to-launch package. TaylorMade engineers have utilized a combination of technologies to create a significant amount of draw bias to help golfers prevent a right miss. The key feature is the optical engineering that creates a high-contrast topline masking configured to make the face angle appear more open than the actual face angle, resulting in the golfer returning a more closed face at impact. In addition, the center of gravity is moved slightly toward the heel to further aid in delivering a square clubface to the golf ball. This adds up to 20 yards more draw bias than the standard M6.

The M6 & M6 D-Type drivers are offered in 9, 10.5 and 12 degree (RH only) lofts. The M6 driver has two stock shaft options from Fujikura, the high launching Atmos Orange 5 and a lower-launching Atmos Black 6 in S-, R- and A-flexes. The M6 D-Type comes equipped with a Project X EvenFlow Max Carry 45 shaft. For women, the M6 and M6 D-Type drivers are offered in 10.5 and 12 degree lofts (RH only) and come equipped with TaylorMade’s Tuned Performance 45g L flex shaft. The stock men’s grip is the Lamkin Dual Feel grip and the stock ladies grip is the Lamkin Comfort Plus Dual Feel grip. Both drivers are available with numerous additional shaft options at no additional cost.

TaylorMade engineers have also successfully incorporated its breakthrough Twist Face technology into a fairway wood. Like the M drivers, the faces have been modified to counteract the gear effect on common mis-hits in the high-toe and low-heel. Although the concept is the same as in the driver, the exact geometry is slightly different to account for the unique mass properties and impact location patterns in fairway woods compared to drivers.

The M5 fairway also represents a complete re-engineering of TaylorMade adjustable fairways. The M5 fairway features an advanced multi-material head construction with a titanium body, five-layer carbon composite crown with a steel movable weight — a trimaterial construction. The two low-density components – carbon and titanium – led to more discretionary weight, which engineers used to completely redesign the sliding weight system for a lower CG location and increased adjustability.

The M5’s adjustable weight system features a 65g movable steel weight, which is slightly more than 30 percent of the total head weight, allowing for generous draw/fade adjustability. The position of the steel weight creates a lower center of gravity for a more efficient energy transfer with higher launch and lower spin.

The M5 fairway will be offered in Rocket 3/14 degree (RH only), 3/15 degree and 5/18 degree lofts and come equipped with a Mitsubishi CK Tensei Orange 75 (X) and 65 (S, R) with numerous additional shaft options available at no additional cost.

M6 FAIRWAY

Like the driver, the M6 fairway has Twist Face technology for an explosive, yet playable fairway from the tee or off the deck. New in ’19 is the addition of Rocket 3 a 14 degree offering for those seeking reduced spin and slightly increased ballspeed.

The Speed Pocket has been re-engineered for the M6 fairway woods to provide even more ball speed on low face impacts. A new TPU slot insert has also been designed to sit flush with the sole to improve sole interaction and eliminate turf drag from the Speed Pocket.

The M6 fairways also improve performance over the M4 by optimizing CG placement directly behind center face, producing maximum energy transfer at impact. Maintaining a very low center of gravity, the face height of the M6 fairways is also slightly taller, creating a more confidence-inspiring look at address with more available impact area on the clubface. The new larger carbon composite crown increases discretionary mass which is concentrated low in the head, lowering CG for a higher launch while maintaining high MOI for excellent forgiveness.

Also mirroring the M6 driver, the M6 D-Type fairway is engineered with the same technologies in a more draw-biased package thanks to divergent face masking and modified internal weighting that effectively delivers additional draw bias in the ball flight up to 15 yards.

The M6 fairway woods are offered in Rocket 3/14 degree, 3/15 degree, 5/18 degree, 7/21 degree and 9/24 degree lofts, equipped with Fujikura’s Atmos Orange FW shaft in S, R and A-flexes. The M6 D-Type is offered in 3/16 degree, 5/19 degree and 7/22 degree lofts and come equipped with the Project X EvenFlow Max Carry 50 shaft in 6.0 (S), 5.5 (R) and 5.0 (A) and same stock Lamkin grips.

M6 RESCUE

Rounding out the 2019 M6 series metalwoods is the M6 Rescue, TaylorMade’s longest and most versatile hybrid club to date. For the first time ever, the M6 Rescue incorporates Twist Face technology, following the lead of its fairway and driver siblings to produce longer and straighter shots across the face. As the face of the M6 Rescue is significantly smaller than that of the M6 driver, the face curvature is thus more pronounced. As a result, the two-tone crown has been meticulously designed to mask its increased curvature.

The M6 Rescue features a low CG steel body construction with a stepped crown creating a lower CG and easy alignment. It also features a thinner and faster face for improved ball speed and overall distance. A redesigned more flexible Speed Pocket with a TPU slot insert that sits flush with the sole delivers a larger COR area with better off-center performance, especially on low- face strikes and improved turf interaction.

The M6 Rescue iss offered in 3/19 degree, 4/22 degree, 5/25 degree, 6/28 degree and 7/31 degree lofts and come equipped with a Fujikura Atmos Orange HY shaft in 7 (S), 6 (R) or 5 (A). Renowned for its expertise in irons, Mizuno is upping its big stick game big time with its new ST190 drivers and metal woods.

After clearing the USGA conforming list, the ST190s made an immediate first appearance at the British Masters with many players putting in to play on tour since, including Luke Donald and Keith Mitchell to date.

Mizuno has quietly been a pioneer of metal woods for the entire golf industry.  From the Ti100 (golf’s first mass-production titanium driver), the Masters winning T-ZOID, MP-001 with composite crown, and the MP-600 with sliding weights – Mizuno has introduced many metal wood technologies widely adopted by the industry.

Now with its early success on tour, the Mizuno ST190 appears set to propel Mizuno into the metal wood spotlight. In addition to being seen in play on tour so soon after its introduction, the ST190 driver was played to win November’s PGA Play-Offs at Antalya in Turkey and worked its way into the bag of Luke Donald. Donald’s driver choices have long been a barometer for the legitimacy of Mizuno’s launches – the JPX850 being Mizuno’s last to enjoy Donald’s prolonged use.

ST190 AND 190G DRIVERS

The ST190 drivers offer Mizuno’s lowest spin rates and incorporate every known factor in the quest to enhance ball speed and driving distance. Mizuno’s ultra-fast Forged SP700 Ti face now boasts a lighter CORTECH structure to deliver consistently higher ball speeds, with a large carbon composite crown plus the Amplified Wave soleplate, introduced in last year’s ST180 drivers, helping to convert each additional mph into extra yards.

The Forged SP700 Ti face is over 10 percent stronger than 6-4 Titanium with a fine grain structure that allows a more complex geometry in the CORTECH face, where re-engineered ribs and a Quick Switch internal structure promise even higher performance. The ultralight 12g carbon composite crown means 7g of weight can be optimally redistributed to further boost ball speeds and reduce spin rates. The Amplified Wave Sole features a heavily amplified first wave configuration which expands the ST190’s COR area for improved balls speeds across the clubface, with reduced off-center performance drop-off. Harmonic Impact Technology is the result of a careful study of vibration and soundwaves, which identified the need for internal ribs to create a more solid, powerful impact sound. The whole package combines to squeeze every last ounce of ball speed from the entire clubface in both the ST190 and ST190G drivers.

The ST190 is designed for mid to low spin with maximum stability, and features a single, factory-fixed 6g backweight that adds 300gcm2 MOI for added stability on off-center strikes. The ST190G is engineered for low spin and offers intuitive FAST TRACK adjustability thanks to twin 7g weights on external tracks that can reduce spin by an additional 200 rpm, allowing players to achieve heavy fade or draw biases by placing the weights in one track.

The ST190 driver will be available in men’s 9.5 degree and 10.5 degree models, both adjustable by 2 degrees either way, in right hand and left hand (9.5 degree only). The ST190G driver will be available in men’s 9 degree, adjustable by 2 degree either way, in right hand only. A range of shafts without upcharge will be available, with new options for 2019 including Atmos Blue 5S, Atmos Red 5R, Atmos Red 5R2, Atmos Red 6R and Atmos Black TS 6S.

The powerful ST190 fairway woods are also speed-engineered and feature a carbon composite crown and amplified Wave soleplate, this time allied to a deeper, high-energy HT1770 Maraging steel face. This deeper clubface flexes more like a driver, helping to maximize ball speed, while the ultra-lightweight carbon composite crown allows 4g of weight to be moved low within the clubhead, combining with the deeper clubface to deliver an efficient, low-spin ball flight.

The Amplified Wave Soleplate’s larger first wave creates a balance between stability and sweet spot height to provide effective off-center forgiveness without excess backspin. Similar Harmonic Impact Technology to that found in the drivers generates a powerful, solid impact sound, fine-tuned through the study of vibration and soundwaves.

The ST190 fairway woods will be available in fixed-hosel 3- and 5-woods along with an adjustable Tour Spoon (TS) 3-wood model that offers a stronger ball flight and in which lofts can be adjusted from 13 to 17 degrees. Again, early tour testing with a PGA Tour player has highlighted an effective relationship between ball speed and spin rates, with gains in the former accompanying reductions in the latter. The Wilson Staff Cortex driver features Fast Cage Technology, which consists of a weight-tuned titanium internal structure with an impressive 44% of its surface area covered in Carbon Fiber Panels. The Cortex is highly intuitive when it comes to adjustability.  For spin control, the Cortex features the Longest Slide Track Wilson has ever built with an 8g sliding adjustable weight down the center of the club head allowing golfers to select their ideal  spin rate and  ball flight. Hoffman’s design was selected over hundreds of submissions to be featured on Driver vs. Driver on Golf Channel. As the winner, Hoffman received a grand prize of $250,000 along with the opportunity to have his design brought to life under the Wilson Staff brand name.

In its second season, Driver vs. Driver has experienced a steady rise in popularity amongst Golf Channel viewers. The series showcases creative designs from outside the the golf space.

The EXS 460cc head features premium Japanese exotic metals; TSP 910 Beta Titanium face plate featuring Variable Face Thickness Technology and a 8-1-1 Titanium chassis. The TSP 910 Beta Titanium face has been made even thinner and lighter in the EXS over previous Exotics driver models to produce a greater spring-like effect.

Tour Edge R&D paired the superior TSP 910 Beta Titanium face plate with the exceptionally light carbon fiber crown and with additional carbon fiber located on the toe of clubhead, allowing weight to be strategically repositioned lower and deeper in the head for optimal spin and creating an extremely high MOI. The dual carbon fiber technology also helped Tour Edge engineers to significantly improve the acoustics of the driver and enabled them to account for the gram weight of the FTS weights and the adjustable hosel.

The Flight Tuning System allows adjustable sole weights to be moved to two alternate settings; a 9-gram weight in the heel, 3-gram weight in the rear for lower spin, slice-reducing shape and a medium launch and then the 3-gram weight in the heel and 9-gram weight in the rear for medium spin, neutral shape and a higher launch. Additional weight screws can be purchased as a kit that includes 6-gram, 11-gram and 14-gram weights.

The adjustable hosel allows the 9.5 degree EXS driver to go from 7.5 degrees to 11.5 degrees, while the 10.5 degree EXS driver will adjust from 8.5 degrees to 12.5 degrees, making the EXS Driver one of the most versatile drivers on the market. The adjustable hosel also features three upright lie angle settings, giving the EXS driver 16 different settings between the two FTS weights and the eight different loft and lie settings. An Exotics tuning wrench will come no charge with each driver at the point of purchase.

A new RollFace Technology incorporates modified bulge and roll on the toe to create straighter shots for shots hit off the toe, which is where the majority of miss-hits with a driver are made. In conjunction with the sweet-spot enhancing Variable Face Thickness technology, the RollFace makes this the most forgiving driver face ever produced by Tour Edge.

The aerodynamics in the EXS driver are greatly enhanced by a more sloping crown and wider speed channels on the sole. The new, more tapered head profile also reduces aerodynamic drag. A two-year mission to design greater speed into every detail of driver technology has led to the introduction of the new Titleist TS drivers, available in golf shops Sept. 28 with fitting events underway.

This mission – the “Titleist Speed Project,” as it was referenced internally by the Titleist Metalwoods R&D team – began with a challenge from the game’s best players to make Titleist drivers as fast as possible. What followed was a relentless pursuit to solicit speed from every micron and milligram of the driver head, culminating with the development of two new driver models – TS2 and TS3 – engineered to deliver faster ball speed with higher launch, lower spin and increased MOI for more distance and game-changing forgiveness.

At the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the first week that TS (“Titleist Speed”) drivers were available for competition, it became immediately clear that the new TS2 and TS3 models had passed the test. Seventeen players put TS drivers in play – including Justin Thomas, who unleashed a career-long 422-yard drive in Round 1 – an unprecedented shift for the week of a major championship. Three starts later, Thomas earned his first World Golf Championships title with a four-shot victory at Firestone, crediting the performance gains of his TS3 9.5-degree driver.

The future of “Titleist Speed” is driven by the creation of the new Titleist Speed Chassis, comprising four key innovations:

Both models feature Titleist’s patented SureFit hosel with 16 independent loft and lie settings to create a more consistent and optimized ball flight through precision fitting.

The TS drivers stock shaft lineup features four new aftermarket models – KURO KAGE Black Dual Core 50 (High launch and moderate spin), TENSEI AV Series Blue 55(Mid launch and spin), HZRDUS Smoke Black 60 (Low/mid launch and spin) and Even Flow T1100 White 65 (Low launch and spin) – developed by the game’s top shaft manufacturers using insights from Titleist’s industry-best motion capture and consumer testing.
