The name Twin Dolphin comes courtesy of the fabled hotel and celebrity haunt that once humbly graced the shoreline here at Santa Maria Bay. Once known for its well-kept secrecy and luxury, it must be said that the new developers have upped those categories a thousandfold: The 1,400 acre Twin Dolphin Los Cabos development is about as upscale as it gets, with a Montage Los Cabos Resort and Residences on one side and the even more exclusive Maravilla Los Cabos private residential community on the other.
Bring a checkbook loaded with plenty of zeroes if you’re interested in luxury digs, off the chart amenities and, yes, great golf to boot. Owners on the Montage side can rent their two-or-three-bedroom residences to well-heeled hoi polloi who like the idea of Wolf stovetops and outdoor grills, spacious living quarters and expansive outdoor terraces with forever azure views of the encompassing sea.
The Maravilla side is another world altogether, where a resident’s day might start with sunrise yoga, chilling at the pool (hydrotherapy also available – hot and cold plunge pools); lunch at the Santa Maria Beach bar followed by tennis, a couples massage (not Freddie) and a Mezcal tasting at El Mercado. Dinner at Ecco and the deepest sleep this side of Paradise to follow. Nice leisure if you can get it – snorkeling and cooking classes optional.
