CLEVELAND FRONTLINE PUTTER
You wonder just how much better putters can get, and what tricks the golf r&d PhD’s have left in their test tubes to make us all into yipless wonders. Cleveland Golf is striking out in a new direction with their Frontline putters, placing the center of gravity nearer to the face by placing tungsten weights in both the toe and heel of the club. Adding such weight reduces head-twisting on impact and keeps the face square, even when you mis-hit the ball. Then there’s the forged aluminum insert with grooves packed tighter in the face’s center, and less so toward the toe or heel. Consistency of speed is the result, no matter the degree of user-error. There are four models to choose from—one blade, three mallets—the latter with either a single bend or slant-neck hosel. Need more precision? Cleveland added marks set at 21.3mm above the sole to aid and abet in proper aim and alignment.
