ADIDAS RECYCLED GOLF SHOES
Plastic polluting the oceans is a huge issue, so why not take some of that petro product and repurpose it into a golf shoe? That’s what adidas Golf has done with its limited-edition version of its TOUR360 XT, a model that Dustin Johnson will wear during the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
Adidas calls it “the most environmentally-minded shoe” they’ve ever made. The recycled materials used to make the upper were gathered from beaches and coastal communities. Adidas worked with Parley for the Oceans, an organization dedicated to saving the seas, to help create the shoe.
“Our company is extremely focused on sustainability, and we wanted to incorporate that mission into our sport,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director of adidas Golf, in a press release. “This is the first golf shoe we’ve ever made that incorporates upcycled materials and this is just the beginning.”
Beyond the waterproof upper, the shoe’s materials mirror the rest of the TOUR360 XT line.
